Welcome to Functional Photoactive Systems Group (pi-PHOTO)
The Functional Photoactive Systems Group (Pi-Photo) is a multidisciplinary research team with expertise in chemistry and physics. The group is part of the Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón (INMA), a joint institute of the University of Zaragoza and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Its members share a common research environment, fostering close interaction and collaboration.
Research Overview
Since its early stages, the group has focused on the design and study of donor–acceptor molecular systems, including tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivatives and other π-conjugated materials with electronic and photoactive properties, particularly in the field of nonlinear optics (NLO). Over time, its research has expanded towards functional materials for photovoltaic applications, particularly dye-sensitized solar cells, and more recently towards photoactive systems for solar-driven processes, advanced materials processing, and biomedical applications.
